Mizoram is the happiest state in the country
Mizoram is a state in northeastern India, bordered by Myanmar to the east and south and Bangladesh to the west. In 2021, Mizoram was declared the happiest state in the country for the second time, based on a survey conducted by the Indian government’s National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).
The survey used a variety of indicators to assess the level of happiness in each state, including access to basic amenities, employment opportunities, education, health, and social support. Mizoram scored high in all of these areas, with particularly strong ratings for social support and emotional well-being.
This is not the first time that Mizoram has been recognized for its high levels of happiness. In 2018, the state was also declared the happiest in the country in a similar survey conducted by the United Nations. The people of Mizoram are known for their strong sense of community, their traditional values, and their deep connection to their natural surroundings, all of which contribute to a high quality of life and a strong sense of well-being.
