The story behind Ghatagaon Tarini Temple
Local people say that the king of Kendujhar was bringing Maa Tarini from Puri to Kendujhar with the condition that if she turns back, she will not move forward.
The king was riding a horse and the goddess was going after him to Kendujhar. King was coming to know from Mother Tarini\’s Ornament voice that Mother Tarini was coming behind. But there was no sound of ornaments near Ghatgaon in the dense forest.
King felt that perhaps Maa Tarini was not following him. But Maa Tarini was coming and because of the soil of the forest, the sound of her ornaments could not be heard. Due to this condition, Mata Tarani stayed at the same place as the queen of the forest.
