Due to the formal name of Dhauligiri Shanti Stupa, it is a Buddhist structure, which was built in 1972.

This is the architectural excellence of this structure that makes it one of the best places to visit in Bhubaneswar.

It is made by Indo-Japanese collaboration.

The dome-like structure at the top of the temple is decorated with stone panels.

Some of the main stone panels here are Buddha, an elephant procession and Buddha’s footprints.

According to mythology, the famous emperor Ashoka gave up the war by gifting his sword to Lord Buddha at Dhaulagiri here.
